AFTER missing out on last year’s crown, Rwanda’s rally driver Davite Giancarlo is eager to bounce back strongly in bid to win his maiden Africa Rally Championship title this year.Speaking to Times Sport recently, Giancarlo said, "I will take part in this year’s championship. It will not be easy but as long as everything goes according to plan, I will challenge for the title once again.”"The season starts with the Ivory Coast tour, but we are yet to know if we’ll take part because it is very expensive. We may be forced to rent a car while there since it would be more expensive to transport our car to Abidjan,” added the 2012 national rally championship winner. The 39th Rally Cote d’Ivoire Bandama 2013, which counts for the 2013 African Rally Championship, is scheduled for March 1-3. Colsoul rallysport Mitsubishi has offered to rent rally cars for drivers, who won’t manage to transport their vehicles to Abidjan for a fee of 12,500 Euros [about Rwf10.5 million].In the meantime, Davite is making repairs to his Subaru Impreza WRX ‘Omellete’ which he says cost him the title last year. "We have disbanded the vehicle for major repairs such that it can be in good mechanical condition ahead of a tough year,” disclosed the Italy-born driver.
