Kigali City will post a detailed master plan online in order to help anyone seeking information regarding land and property, the City’s Director of Urban Planning, Lillian Mupende has said. She was responding to public concerns about how one can get information about the kind of plot they wish to buy and the activities designed for that area."We are finalising the Gasabo and Kicukiro district master plans and these will be posted online by March,” Mupende said yesterday. She, however, said the master plans will not have price details of the various plots. The city council recently warned the public against buying plots without referring to the master plan."Someone looks at a plot and decides to spend a lot of money on it without knowing what’s in the master plan. They can be shocked if they come for construction permits and they find for example, that their plot is designated for a garden,” she told The New Times in an interview recently.Eudes Kayumba, the chairman of Architect Registration Board, welcomed the decision, saying information is vital and having the property without information on it is a big challenge."After getting information online people will be aware and know what was designated for each area and what kind of infrastructure to put in place,” said KayumbaHe added that KCC also has a task to inform the public how to use the master plan since not everyone is able to know how to use it appropriately.
