Andrew Nkubito, from Nu-Vision High school who emerged the best student in O-Level hopes to study sciences to achieve his dream of becoming an architect. He said he wants to study Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at A-Level.In an interview with The New Times Nkubito (pictured) who received news of his excellent performance from home in Nyagatare, Eastern Province screamed with joy. The cheerful student attributed the good performance to four principles that he set out to do."For anybody to achieve success you must have discipline, work hard, pray to God and have a good school and I have been considering them as the guiding principles to my performance,” he said.Nkubito’s mother, Peace Mukagasana attributed her son’s performance to God, saying he always asked her to pray for him.She wants her son to become a medical doctor despite the son’s desire to become an architect.Vincent Magambo the Director of studies at Nu-Vision High School said their students were well prepared since the school has a well equipped library with teachers always ready help guide the students. James Rwomushana, from New Life High School in Kayonza, who also emerged among the best ten students, says he has a long time ambition to become a medical doctor."I have dedicated my entire life to books…I have always watched doctors treating patients, you know saving human life is what I want to do. Otherwise, I work hard in classrooms and respect what my teachers tell me, other academic things work themselves out,” he said.Annick Nshuti, another of the best ten students from ENDP Karubanda in Huye district attributed her success to constant revision.She observed that some students fail due to group influence."It’s generally about reading. I have always had my dreams of becoming a civil engineer and I will never give up until I achieve it,” she said.
