This year’s Governance Month, to be launched next Tuesday, with focus on deepening good governance practices and sustainable development.The launching ceremony will take place in Rwamagana district, according to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government, Vincent Munyeshyaka.The PS told journalists in Kigali yesterday that as part of the activities, leaders will visit private and public institutions to assess service delivery and offer advice on how to improve it."We will assess development activities, reach the citizens and urge them on job creation and savings culture,’’ he said.The Deputy Chief Executive Officer in the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), Fatuma Ndangiza said other activities will include solving the longstanding citizens ‘problems such land wrangles."We will deal with concerns mostly conflicts related to land and the cases of failure to implement court decisions,’’ she said.She said last year’s governance month listed 2,300 problems among citizens and 85 percent were solved.Other activities of the governance month include enhancing community participation in development initiatives and policy debate. Launching of good governance month, which ends on March 15, will coincide with the launch of National Service by secondary school leavers.
