EIGHTEEN months after her Glastonbury gig, BEYONCE has signed up to sing at another UK institution – and won’t need her wellies for this one. The American is the first big international name to commit to playing the Brit Awards on February 20. She’s on the comeback trail this year and her show at London’s O2 will come just a few weeks after she plays the year’s biggest TV gig, America’s Super Bowl. The Brits’ organisers have already confirmed homegrown acts ONE DIRECTION, MUMFORD & SONS, ROBBIE WILLIAMS and MUSE in the line-up. But a source said: "Beyonce coming to The Brits is a huge coup for organisers. "She’s among the best live pop acts on the planet and will have brand new material to play for the audience. "The last time she played The Brits, nine years ago, was at the start of her solo career, singing Crazy In Love. So it’s apt that she’s back this year.” In the past few years the event has featured some cracking live music and the line-up of stars this year has something for everyone. Mumford, Muse, Robbie, Beyoncé and One Direction will each keep different groups of fans more than happy. JAMES CORDEN is hosting the event again and will keep the jokes brief so that the focus is on the music. More surprise performers will be announced over the next few weeks — and there is a big-name duet in the pipeline. Last year’s event was the most watched Brits show in seven years. ITV bosses will be hoping Beyonce’s performance takes viewing figures even higher this time around. She’ll be well drilled after her 15-minute Super Bowl performance. And viewers won’t have to sit through hours of baffling American Football to get to the best bit.
