François Rugomboka (Cesco) and Arthur Mugunga made history on Saturday after becoming the first winners of the BCR Open that was held at Kigali Golf Club.
The pair that had missed out on the probable list of winners maneuvered its way to the lime light after a fine back nine performance that included three pars to finish off with 40 points, two ahead of the first runners up pair of Jack Kayonga and Nelvy Mundockil.
At the end of the day, they walked away with crystal-like trophies and a 32-inch T.V set courtesy of BCR, the tournament sponsors.
In the other competitive category, Esther Mukagasana continued with her splendid run of form after topping the semi-professionals with 73net. She beat Jules Dusabe on count back.
Charles Ntare and Inger Gareyner were presented with special prizes after registered the day’s longest drives while Roger Bayingana came closest to the pin.
In the event’s closing remarks, the Kigali Golf Club president Jack Kayonga extended his gratitude to BCR for making the tournament very colorful.
After Kayonga’s remarks, the bank’s managing director David Kuwana who did not have a very good day on the course acknowledged Kayonga and his team for the way that they were running affairs at the club and promised to make the event an annual one.
