Ugandan authorities have deported 40 Rwandans, who had illegally entered the country without travel documents, Rwanda Directorate of Immigration and Emigration confirmed yesterday.The 40 people were handed over to the Rwandan authorities at Cyanika border on the Uganda-Rwanda border last Friday.According to reports from Uganda, the 40 people were found without travel documents in Kisoro town, Kisoro district at night in a bus heading to Kampala, Uganda’s capital."They are now in the transit facility of Kinigi undergoing screening. The screening is being conducted by the police and local government. They are also listening to their concerns, said Ange Sebutege, Communications Officer at the Immigration.Sebutege added that, local authorities are also educating them on how to acquire travel documents and the importance of using them.Kisoro deputy resident district commissioner, Gideon Aheebwa, said that Rwandans crossed Uganda in big numbers in buses every day."They are free to return as long as they have travel documents,” Aheebwa told the Rwanda immigration officers who received their citizens.Kisoro district Police Commander, Bosco Otim, said the that most of the Rwandans deported were travelling with their families and that they were heading to Kampala, Kiboga, Kibaale and Kyankwanzi districts and other parts of Buganda to look for casual labour.
