On Sunday, Tigre Kata men and Nyamagabe Kumite women dominated the inaugural Malaria Karate tournament which was organised by the Rwanda Karate Federation in partnership with Imbuto Foundation.
On Sunday, Tigre Kata men and Nyamagabe Kumite women dominated the inaugural Malaria Karate tournament which was organised by the Rwanda Karate Federation in partnership with Imbuto Foundation.The tournament, that spanned over a week and was held in six districts across the country, was organised to fight malaria among the population. The winning teams took home cash prizes of Rwf150, 000 each. Kensei (Kata men) and the National University of Rwanda (Kumite women) finished second and got Rwf100, 000.Costa Bakundukize won the Kata individual demonstrations, and took home Rwf50, 000R for his efforts. In second and third place places were Jean Claude Kumi and Lambert Ntahirajya, who walked away with Rwf30, 000 and Rwf20, 000, respectively.In Kumite individual exhibition, Vincent Munyeshyaka came out on top, followed by Idrissa Barawigirira, Vanily Ngarambe and Gustave Tuyisabe, who, on top of the medals, also won cash prizes, Rwf50, 000, Rwf30, 000 and Rwf20,000 respectively.
