Rwanda Taekwondo Federation has organised a one-day tournament dubbed ‘Taekwondo Gorilla Open’ today at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.According to the Secretary General of the federation Placide Bagabo, the event is expected to attract five countries in the region, including; Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo and host Rwanda.It is the first such tournament to be held in the country but Bagabo is positive it will be a success. Rwanda will be represented with 26 players."We have just started to organise big tournaments in the country and we hope after this one, the sport will start to gain momentum in the future,” he told this paper on Friday. "We have a good number of players who are eager to compete for the national team and we hope that they will do a good job in-front their home fans. People need to come and support the team,” he appealed.
