Refugees returning home will undergo civic education before they are reintegrated into communities, The New Times has learnt.In the past, civilians returning from exile were immediately transported to their respective home districts on arrival. But this time round, the refugees will have to attend training on various developmental programmes being implemented in the country as well as traditional values.The re-induction programme begins this month.A statement from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugees affairs says the civic education programme will start with those who have returned to their motherland.Ex-combatantsAt least 350 Rwandans, who were living in DRC, have been repatriated, government figures show. The group, which has been arriving in the country since last week, are temporarily living at Nyagatare transit centre, Western Province.Among the returnees are 36 former members of the FDLR. They will be handed over to the Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission, which organises reintegration programmes for ex-combatants, an official at the ministry said.The ministry says civic education will help explain overview of the national values and culture.
