SC Kiyovu maintained their impressive assault on the national football league title with a slim 2-1 win over AS Muhanga at Mumena Stadium yesterday.  The Greens have veteran striker Bokota Kamana Labama to thank for the 67th minute winner to cancel out Eric Yirirwahandi’s equaliser twenty minutes earlier. Rising star, Mhadjili Hakizimana, (Haruna Niyonzima’s younger brother) opened the scoring for Kiyovu from a spot kick after skipper Eric Serugaba was brought down in the fortieth minute to keep Jean Baptist Kayiranga’s side at the summit of the league log with twenty five points from 13 games.   Before hitting the winner, Bokota and Serugaba had wasted several chances to put the game beyond Muhanga’s reach.Set piece specialist Jabir Mutarambirwa was at hand to provide Bokota with the match winning assist from a well taken free-kick.    City Council side, AS Kigali, also recorded an away 2-0 win against Marine to remain second on the league table with 24 points. Laudit Mavugo and Jimmy Mbaraga were on target for this season’s surprise package. League record winners APR leapfrogged into the third position with a 2-0 win over La Jeunesse. Police FC and Rayon Sport complete the top five positions.Police, with a game in hand, beat Amagaju 3-0 while Rayon came from behind to beat Musanze 3-2.   Peter Kagabo, Ernest Kwizera and Jacques Tuyisenge were on target for Police, while Maxime Sekamana and Tumaine ‘Titi’ Ntamuhanga scored for APR.Southern Province giants Mukura were held to a goalless draw at home by Espoir, while Etincelles recorded their second win of the season with a 2-1 win against Isonga.AS Muhanga, Isonga and Marines occupy the relegation places tied on eight points.
