Be organised
Do all the bookings of early enough to avoid disappointment. If you don’t want to splash out on invitations, get others to do the hard work for you.
Tell about ten to fifteen people about the party and tell those people to tell others. But be warned, this is letting matters get out of your control.
You will have little control over how many people turn up. You may want the party to be an intimate affair with a special few. If so make it clear that the party is invite only.
Getting ready
Arrange the furniture in such a way that everyone can sit around and talk. Good conversation is so important. Light a few scented candles to create a cozy look and these will also make the room smell good.
Make sure you have lots of food. There’s nothing worse than hungry party goers. Music makes a party. Be sure to have some party songs ready for shaking a leg but also softer music for when everyone is chatting.
Party time!
Play host! Move around and talk to everyone. If someone arrives that you don’t know make a point to introduce yourself.
Also be sure to introduce people to each other, once everyone is chatting you will begin to relax. Don’t be afraid to turn away people you don’t know. They are more often than not there to cause trouble.
Damage control
Be warned: things will get broken and a mess will be made. So be prepared. Put away all valuables. Try not to fret too much, people will notice and be unable to relax themselves. If accidents happen just clear the worst away quickly and with a smile!
Enough’s enough
When its time to wrap things up, drop subtle hints. Most people will know when things are winding down. There will invariably be the few who don’t. Try and be patient.
