Rwanda Karate Federation and Imbuto Foundation have joined hands to organise a tournament aimed at fighting Malaria. Imbuto Foundation pumped Rwf11.5 million into Malaria Karate Tournament, which started yesterday and will end on next weekend.According to the federation Technical Director, Guy Rurangayire, the money will be used to organise both the men and women’s competitions. "We thank Imbuto for their contribution to Karate, which will help the development this game and be known in country and fight against Malaria in country,” said Rurangayire."This is a good budget for this competition, which will help the teams and players to compete on high level. I believe it will be a good tournament,” he noted. Rurangayire said the fighters will compete in Kumite and Kata categories. The winner will walk away with Frw300,000, second place Frw250,000, and second runner-up Frw 200,000, while fourth placed kicker will get Frw150,000.In the individual category; the winner will get Frw75,000, runner-up Frw50,000, third place Frw25,000 for both women and men.The tournament will be held in Nyanza, Bugesera, Rubavu, Nyagatare, Rwamagana and Gasabo districts. The teams include Musanze, Nyamagabe, APR, Police, Samourai, Hantei and Kensei. Others are National University of Rwanda, Mamaru, Kaisho, Ippon and Aigle.This is the second partnership after Imbuto’s collaboration with Rwanda Volleyball Federation to fight Malaria last year.
