The Primus National Football League match between Espoir and Police was cancelled yesterday following the death of four Police officials in a road accident on the way to Rusizi.The accident happened between Ruhango and Nyanza near Gatagara in the Southern Province as the team was heading to Rusizi for Saturday’s game.The dead include CIP Peter Mugabo, AIP Andrew Bizimana, PC Emmy Mbarushimana and Innocent Rutwaza, who were travelling in a separate car from that carrying the players.According to Police FC chairman Alphose Katarebe, the team cut short the journey and returned to Kigali for the vigil."We have lost key members of our club. It is a sad moment for Police Football Club and the families of the deceased. Among the dead was the team’s long-serving administrator (Peter Mugabo,” a distraught Katarebe told Times Sport moments after news of the accident spread in the local media.Felix Nzeyimana, who is in charge of competition in Ferwafa confirmed the cancelation of the game, saying, "It is a bad time for Police, and calling off the match is understandable.”
