As the revamped Coca-cola league enters its fifth phase today, the question at hand is if Kigali Volleyball Club can pull off another shock performance.
KVC, who last won the championship back in 2003 appear to be APR’s major contenders after a thrilling 3-2 win in the fourth phase.
Although it was KVC’s first phase win, it reduced the reigning champions’ lead to 45 points and rejuvenated KVC’s hopes for a league title in five years.
"We did well in the fourth phase and we want to keep the foot on the pedal. The race is still open and our confidence is up there so we want to see how it goes,” the KVC coach Jean-Marie Nsengiyumva said.
The fifth phase which climaxes tomorrow will be staged in Ruhengeri. This year’s championship attracted 27 clubs; 14 male clubs and 13 female clubs.
However, APR’s recent heroics in the Tournoi International des Disparus could be a great boost ahead of today’s action.
The army side registered their fourth consecutive title with less effort following a straight sets’ victory over KVC.
