Emeran Fritz Nkusi, upset for being dropped from the national team, has quit the Amavubi Stars camp. The fullback’s failure to break into the 18-man squad named by coach Blanko Tucak for last weekend’s trip to Ethiopia for the on-going 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifiers.

The Greece-based player deserted the Amavubi camp at Alpha Palace on the day (Saturday) the team was due leave for Addis Ababa and hasn’t been seen since then.

Fritz, who features for Premier league club Levadiakos in Greece, stormed from the team’s camp after Tucak told him that he had no place on his team.

It was the second time in as many matches that Fritz was left out of the team. He also missed the opening qualifiers against Mauritania but that time it was due to a calf injury.

Talking to Times Sport before he deserted the camp, Fritz said that he was100 percent fit to play a part in the Ethiopia game.

"I am fit to play. I didn’t come to Rwanda for a holiday. I came because I was summoned for national team duty.

"I comforted myself and took it easy when I was dropped for the Mauritania squad but now am really disappointed by the coach’s decision,” the defender with Caribbean decent said.

According to his close pals who preferred anonymity, Fritz said that the technical staff is favoring some players and excluding others from the Amavubi team due to personal reasons.

However, efforts to get a comment from Tucak about the incident have been futile since the team’s return from Ethiopia as he has persistently refused to talk to journalists. He only gives interview during press conferences.
