Editor,Through your paper allow me to congratulate all Rwandans for making it to 2013.Many thanks go to our leaders for the great work they do.As we begin the new year, Rwandans should support the nation’s leaders with prayers to enable them to uphold the truth, consolidate our achievements and rule justly. It must be acknowledged that without divine guidance and help, not much could be achieved.Christians should appreciate that whatever transformation Rwanda has witnessed comes through God’s grace.Rwandans should depend on God for direction as He worked to bring progress to the country. The church has played significant contribution to the nation’s development, through construction of schools, health facilities and other social amenities. My appeal to the church is to do more to help cleanse the society of the growing indiscipline and drug abuse, particularly among the youth. The power of prayer can turn people away from evil and bad conduct. It should also be noted that meaningful socio-economic development cannot be made unless people follow the norms of acceptable social behaviour.Fellow Rwandans, the values of humility and compassion for the poor should be part of our culture as the poor are part of us.
