Nsengiyumva eyes top four at CAVB Championships

NATIONAL youth volleyball team head coach Jean Marie Nsengiyumva has set a target of finishing in the top four at this year’s Africa Youth CAVB Championships scheduled for January 21-31 in Algeria.Rwanda has qualified for the Boys’ and Girls’ Youth CAVB Championships this year and Nsengiyumva, who is in charge of the boys team says finishing in the top will be a dream achievement for his young troops."We will go there with calm heads as we have a lot to gain and nothing to lose, and if we can finish in the top four, it will be a success story for us.He stated, "It is the first time for the boys to compete at this level but they have been doing well in training which is a good sign for me as a coach, and I hope we will go there with strong character and mentality to win.” "The boys are gaining confidence with every day we spend in training and I am sure they’ll be ready for the African Championship, we really need to do well in this competition,” he added.The KVC coach noted that they are looking at the possibility of arranging a couple of warm-up matches against Kenyan teams before departing for Algeria.Locally, Nsengiyunva’s team played two training matches against the junior national side, winning one and losing the other last weekend.Rwanda’s boys and girls teams qualified after all countries of Zone V withdrew from the CAVB Zone V qualifiers, which had been scheduled for this month in Kigali.
