Dear children, as we start the New Year, strengthen your friendship with old friends and at the same time, make new ones. But to get truly good friends, you must be one as well. A good friend is always helpful, good hearted, caring, selfless and humble, so if you have all the above characteristics then I’m sure you are a fine friend. I remember a young boy called Shema who had a best friend called Jackson. Shema came from a very modest family and couldn’t afford video games which he loved very much. But because Shema and Jackson were best friends and Jackson came from a rich family, he would always share his games with Shema. One day, Jackson’s parents bought a new Game Boy for Jackson for his birthday and since Jackson knew that Shema loved Game Boys, he got one of his old ones and gave it to him as a gift. Shema was so happy. They shared everything, played together, studied together and built their friendship every passing day. It’s important to learn how to share and also help each other out because that is what shows just how great you are as friends. I encourage you to follow the great example by Shema and Jackson. Care, help and share with each other and remember to make new friends this year because friends are our second family.
