20 born on New Year’s Day in Kigali

AT LEAST 20 babies were born in three hospitals in Kigali on New Year’s Day. 14 were born at Muhima Hospital. At Hospital La Croix Du Sud 4 babies were born while King Faisal hospital Kigali registered two births.

AT LEAST 20 babies were born in three hospitals in Kigali on New Year’s Day. 14 were born at Muhima Hospital. At Hospital La Croix Du Sud 4 babies were born while King Faisal hospital Kigali registered two births.Marthe Nyirarukundo a nurse at Hospital La Croix Du Sud said four babies were born by 4:00pm yesterday.  They included two girls and two boys. "All are in good health,” she said.Martha Owiragiye gave birth to her second baby at Hospital La Croix Du Sud shortly after midnight. "I am so excited that I gave birth to a baby girl. Am grateful to the nurses and the hospital management,” she said.At Muhima Hospital, 14 babies had been born by 4:00pm yesterday. According to the nurse in charge of maternity ward Clothilde Nyirangondo all babies were fine and their mothers. "We know 14 babies were born however we are not yet sure of the number of boys and girls,” the nurse explained.At King Faisal hospital Kigali, according to Solange Uwamahoro a midwife, two babies were born. The first baby was born at 2:00pm while the second one was born at 4:00pm.Compared to last year, more babies were born yesterday than last year. Last year ten babies were born in four hospitals in Kigali on New Year’s Day.
