APR FC and Amavubi Stars defender Emery Bayisenge is set for professional trials with Belgium Jupiler League side Zulte-Waregem FC.The development was confirmed yesterday by APR Secretary General Adolphe Kalisa. "He will travel to Belgium next month (January) for trials that will last for a month.”"The club (APR) will soon finalise everything needed for his travel so that he can leave for the trials on January 12,” Kalisa confirmed. He will leave on 12 January and return on 12 February.Bayisenge has been a key figure for APR this season and has also been instrumental for the junior wasps and senior national team. Zulte-Waregem is in second place in Belgian Jupiler League with 44 points, four points behind leaders Anderlecht in 22 matches played.It will be the second time for the young defender to try his luck at the paid ranks after spending two-weeks in France with Ligue 1 side Toulouse FC but he failed to impress. The Ferwafa academy product led Rwanda’s U-17 to the second place in the 2011 Africa Youth Championship finals played in Kigali last year before leading the same team at the FIFA U-17 World Cup finals held in Mexico.SEC Academy defender Solomon Nirisarike passed trials with Belgium’s second division Royal Antwerp in February last year and the following month; Michel Rusheshangoga spent two weeks on trials but didn’t make the cut.Other Rwandans who played in Europe include Alfred Mugabo (Arsenal U21), Elias Uzamukunda (AS Cannes, France), Steven Emmanuel Godfroid Kunduma (Union Saint-Gilloise, Belgium).Other players in Africa include; Haruna Niyonzimana, Mbuyu Twite (Young Africans, Tanzania), Mao Kalisa known as Kasongo Kabiona (TP Mazembe, DRC), Daddy Birori (Vita Club, DRC), Jonas Nahimana (AFC Leopard, Kenya).
