Senior officials in the Ministry of Defence and the top brass of Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) will today start a two-day retreat into which they are to discuss, among others, the draft defence policy.
Senior officials in the Ministry of Defence and the top brass of Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) will today start a two-day retreat into which they are to discuss, among others, the draft defence policy.
According to a release by the DRF spokesperson Maj Jill Rutaremara, the retreat which will take place at Urumuri Hotel in Gicumbi District, Northern Province will be attended by both the defence minister and the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. James Kabarebe.
"The retreat will reassess the strategies, challenges and priorities of the Defence Sector in the short, medium and long term,” the release reads in part.
Other officials expected to attend include Service Chiefs [Army and Air Force], the Secretary General in the Ministry of Defence, Division Commanders, Joint Staff (Js) and Heads of Department at the RDF Headquarters, Commandants of Military Training Institution, among others.
During the two-day retreat, participants will deliver presentations on Vision 2020 and the contribution of the defence sector towards the achievement of the Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS).
Other presentations to be made include threats to national defence; personnel welfare and morale, capability gaps and development, military training, personnel planning and career development, resource mobilization and allocation, among others.
