The federation is willing to do everything possible to support the schools that will be participating in the league for the future of the game.
According to Mugabo, Ferwaba has promised to meet transportation, refreshments and the coaching costs for all school teams that compete in the national league.
The official thinks it’s a wise idea for the fresh and young blood to be competitive at an early age as one of their strategies to preserve the talent before it’s exploited.
"It’s hard to catch up to the standards of the game at a later age especially the girls who feel shy at that age,” he noted.
Five schools including Fawe girls’ schools, Notre Dame de Laurdes Byimana, Karubanda and St. Vincent Muhoza have so far have shown interest to participate in the women league, whereas seven schools are expected to play in the boys’ junior league.
The schools include, St. Joseph Kabgayi, St. Joseph Nyamirambo, St. André, Collège Christ Roi, Ifak, St. Patrick Kicukiro and Lycée de Kigali.
The two leagues are scheduled to start on June 21. Meanwhile, the men’s senior national league continues this weekend with three fixtures.
Tomorrow, league leaders APR will be in action against the champions Marine at Kimisagara courts and second placed CSK A hosts Rusizi at Cercle Sportif in Rugunga while on Sunday, Espoir host Marines at Rafiki.
