Editor,I was happy to read the story titled. ‘Meet Mudenge, the man who graduated at 80’, in your December 27 issue. From the story, it’s clear that Gaethan Mudenge had previously gone to school, consequently becoming a medical practitioner for 47 years. Later he retired due to advanced age. However, even in retirement, Mudenge felt he still had enough time to pursue his longstanding dream of working in the hospitality industry. He joined the Rwanda Tourism College and, last week, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Travel and Tourism Management. His latest feat came when he’s 80. What an incredible story! Mudenge’s experience is inspiring and uplifting to say the least. At 80, one would have thought that Mudenge would comfortably stay and home as a pensioner. But no; he decided that he will not leave this world without achieving his dream. To him, I say congratulations.Yet, it seems he’s not done yet. According to the story, Mudenge is planning to set up a hospitality business and employ some people. What a courageous man! I wish Mr Mudenge every success in his endeavours, and a happy 2013.Peter KabashaKigali
