With just two days left to the final competition of this year`s Rwanda Premier Model finale, the twenty four selected finalists are undergoing tight training in preparation for the event. This event will take place at the Gikondo Expo Grounds. Speaking to The New Times, those undergoing the training at Amahoro National Stadium say it has greatly improved their modeling skills."Yes, we had the skills but what we are going through in this training has effectively built on what we had,” Sandrine Umutoni, one of the models undergoing the training said.Just like other models in the training, Umutoni is confident she will emerge the winner and walk away with Rwf 1 million, among other prizes in the girl`s category. Rwf 500,000 will be the cash prize for the second best while the third will get Rwf 250,000. Some contestants said that though only one person can win the grand prize, the skills they have acquired have massively contributed to their experience in the industry. Jean Claude Ndayishimiye, CEO of Premier Model Agency, the organiser of the competition advised the models to work hard and improve their talent.During a press conference on Monday, Ndayishimiye assured the contestants that the competition will be fair and transparent given the fact that there will also be an online voting. The Director of Culture Promotion in the Ministry of Sports and Culture, Lauren Makuza, commended the competition saying it gives the young generation a chance to exploit their talent. He also encouraged the models to form associations if they are to get support from the government."With talent and love for what you do, it is possible for you to get to the international level,” Makuza told the models. The event, at Gikondo Expo Grounds, is expected to be graced by various local musicians that include Bruce Melody, Alpha Rwirangira and a drummer group expected from Burundi.
