Police has reported a relatively secure environment countrywide both on Christmas Day and the day before across the country.Police spokesperson Theos Badege told The New Times yesterday that there were no reports of  insecurity, be it road accidents or physical assault during Christmas Day."The celebrations were generally peaceful, we have received few reports of accidents and assault, the population was generally responsible throughout the celebrations,” Badege saidHe said that overall, four road accidents were registered in different parts of the country, including in Ngoma, Muhanga, Nyabihu and Nyarugenge districts.One person was reported dead in the Nyabihu road accident, with the victim identified as Noel Nderaho 30.He died after an overspeeding Toyota omnibus, driven by one Jean de Dieu Bimenyimana, knocked the victim who was riding a bicycle.The driver has since been arrested and is currently detained at Jomba police station in Nyabihu district, according to the police spokesperson.Badege also reported one case of robbery in Kigali, at Kimihurura sector, where two people tried to broke into a warehouse and stole an assortment of electronics.The suspects are held at Remera police station, he said.There were also three cases of assault in Muhaga district, Kimironko in Gasabo district, and in Rulindo districts where people fought and police intervened.Badege appealed Rwandans to maintain vigilance throughout the festive season.
