Players Abroad: Imanishimwe, Bayisenge close season with silverware

Central defender Emery Bayisenge who joined Gor Mahia in January 2023, won the Premier League title with the club on Sunday following their 4-1 win over Nairobi City Stars

It was a great weekend for Rwandan players in their foreign teams as Emmanuel Imanishimwe and Emery Bayisenge were crowned league champions in Morocco and Kenya respectively.

Forward Lague Byiringiro also came from the bench to net twice in Sandviken IF 5-2 demolition of Hammarby Talang in the Swedish Ettan Norra League.

Morocco

Emmanuel Imanishimwe saw 90 minutes of action as his FAR Rabat side beat Ittihad Tanger 3-2 at the Grand Tanger Stadium to win their first league title since 2008. The result saw the champions finish at the summit of the Botola Pro 1 League side with 67 points, a point clear of runners-up Wydad Casablanca.

Kenya

Central defender Emery Bayisenge who was signed by Gor Mahia in January 2023 also won the Premier League title with the club on Sunday following their 4-1 win over Nairobi City Stars. He saw 90 minutes of action in the encounter.

Norway

Centre back Ange Mutsinzi was a full timer for FK Jerv who lost 2-1 to IK Start at the Sparebanken Sør Arena.

In the third tier, goalkeeper Clement Twizere Buhake was in the post for Strommen IF who defeated Kvik Halden 2-1.

Attacker Josias King Furaha came in for Drilon Ibishi in the 66th minute but his output was not enough for his side Flekkeroy who lost 3-1 to Orn-Horte.

Emmanuel Baru Gisa came in for Marius Jacobsen with eight minutes to full time as Frame Larvik drew 1-1 with Kjelsas.

Sweden

Both Lague Byiringiro and Yannick Mukunzi came in as substitutes in the 63rd minute as Sandviken IF thrashed Hammarby Talang 5-2. Byiringiro was on top, bagging a brace in the process.

In the Superettan league, Rafael York played 73 minutes before being substituted as his club Gefle IF beat Oster 3-2.

Iraq

Faustin Usengimana was a full timer for Al Qasim who played out a 0-0 draw with Duhok.
