Rwanda’s group 8 opponents, Mauritania have sacked their coach Alain Robert Moizan after two back-to-back defeats in the on-going 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifiers.

Moizan was shown the exit after Mauritania’s 4-1 home defeat by Morocco last Saturday. The defeat left the Mourabitounes at the bottom of Group 8 in the combined 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Mauritanian Football Federation has appointed Mohamed Salem Ould Harouna, who is a former coach of the national team to replace Moizan.

Moizan’s spell in charge of Mauritania has been short and very disappointing.

The former France international, who is half Senegalese, was appointed in February this year to guide the Mourabitounes to the 2010 World/Africa Cup finals set for South Africa and Angola respectively.

Moizan was in charge of Mauritania when Rwanda’s Amavubi Stars thumped 3-0 them in Kigali, before the crushing defeat to Morocco.

Moizan took charge of Mali national team in 2004 but his spell was also short due to unproductive results.

Ould Harouna now faces an uphill with the team, who are already six points behind both Morocco and Rwanda, with only the winner of the group certain to progress to the next stage of qualifying.
