Huge. Massive. Gargantuan. Gigantic. Grand. All those words describe the Jungle Party, which has become the most popular event on Rwanda’s social calendar. Organised by Show Time Events, this year’s fete, which has been dubbed "Girl Power Xmas Jungle Party”, will be a female-stars-only affair.

Lake Kivu Serena Hotel will play host the event, which will set you back by Rwf10,000. Action kicks off at 9:00PM tonight, radio adverts say. According to buzz from the organisers’ camp, the event has attracted female stars from Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda: Cindy, Lillian Mbabazi, Jackie Chandiru, DJ Ruby and Keko from Uganda; DJ Fridah from Kenya; and our very own Knowless Butera, DJ Anita Pendo and Young Grace. The performers  Keko She burst onto the East African music scene in 2010 with a bang. The rapper, who is only known to her mother as Jocelyn Tracey Keko, announced her arrival with Fallen Heroes, the tune that instantly cast her into the glare of publicity. Keko followed this with the smoldering How we do it, which took Ugandan charts and MTV Africa by storm, making her an instant household name in East Africa. The release of the much acclaimed Go Green – the Angela Katatumba double act – further cemented her place as the most talented new artist from Africa. Go Green was testament to her ability and versatility to tackle important issues such as climate awareness. Cindy Cindy, whose real name is Cinderella Muyonjo Sanyu, was one of the members of the all-girl group, Blu3, which was dissolved about 4 years ago. Returning on her own after the dissolution of Blue3, Cindy’s debut solo album, Ayokyayokya, topped charts all over East Africa, spawning hits such as Mbikooye and Nawewe. Cindy has won 3 national music awards for her solo work on top of 3 other awards that she won as a member of Blu3. Today, her single, Mbikoye, is still a big hit across the region. Lilian Mbabazi A Ugandan of Rwanda origin, Mbabazi’s music style is described as a cross between R&B and soul, with a tinge of African & Western musical influences. Some of her most popular songs include Vitamin, a song that features vocals from Goodlyfe’s Weasel; Kawa, an up tempo R&B track; Kankutwale, a Luganda love ballad; Yegwe Weka, which features Rwanda’s Kitoko; and So in Love. JackieJackie Chandiru a.k.a Jackie is one of Uganda’s leading female R&B artists and vocalists. The singer kicked off her music career in 2004 after she emerged as one of the winners of the Coca Cola Pop Stars competition. Also a former Blu3 member, Jackie has treated us with hits like Gold Digger, Overdose and Hit it Up, which features Rwanda R&B group, Urban Boys. Young Grace Born Marie Grace Abayizera in 1994, she started her rap career in 2010 when she released her first song Hip hop Game. And even though Hip hop Game was not a big hit in Kigali, it was well-received in Gisenyi, where the young rapper hails from. She followed this with Adresse, Bible, Sinareka Muzika, Mpa Umusada and Uri Final among others.Knowless Jane Ingabire Butera, better known as Knowless, is a local R&B diva who has it all: vocal ability, brains and the looks! Knowless was born in Nyamirambo, a Kigali City suburb. Like most successful artistes, Knowless honed her talent from Sunday school before joining Maranatha, a famous Adventist church choir. She made a foray into secular music in 2010 and has already released more than four hits, including Sinzakwibagirwa (I’ll Never Forget You), Byemere (Say Yes) and Nkoraho (Touch Me) among others.
