Rwanda’s junior volleyball team is set to start preparations for the CAVB African Championships in January, according to the local federation.The junior men’s team will be taking part in the 2013 CAVB Boys Championship slated for February 28 to March 9 in Tunisia.The local federation’s technical director, Christian Hatumimana, confirmed that the junior team will start intensive preparations on January at Huye’s Groupe Scolaire de Butare.Hatumimana said, "We want to raise a strong competitive team and hope these daily training sessions will help achieve our target,”Notable players which the country will be relying on for good performances in Tunisia include Fred Musoni, Aimable Mutuyimana, Barrack Rugira all from APR, Bonnie Mutabazi (NUR), Fred Muvunyi Rufu, Ivan Nsabimana Mahoro, Nelson Murangwa and Yves Mutabazi all from Groupe Scoraile de Butare.Rwanda qualified for the championship after Morocco who had finished third during the tournament held in Libya in 2010, withdrew giving Rwanda, who had finished fourth a chance to compete for honours.In 2010, Rwanda team under Brazilian Coach Paulo de Tarsio finished in top four behind Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco.African Volleyball Confederation has trusted Tunis to organise the boys’ African Junior Volleyball Championship replacing Morocco.The national team will be managed by Kenyan Coach Paul Bitok in the preparations before the federation takes a final decision on who will be in charge of the team during the competition.
