Executive producer Stephanie Savage says the titular blogger was almost revealed in the pilot, and shares her thoughts on where Jenny, Vanessa and Serena are professionally in five years."Gossip Girl” series finale featured a major revelation about who the eponymous blogger really is, but there are still burning questions left unanswered. Speaking to E! Online after the last episode aired on December 17, executive producer Stephanie Savage is willing to address things that were not seen in the said episode. On Dan who was revealed to be the Gossip Girl, Savage claims they always knew it would be him from the beginning. "We never really entertained any other ideas of who Gossip Girl was. It was whether we were going to reveal it,” she says. She goes on sharing that Gossip Girl’s identity was almost revealed in the first episode. She opens up, "Interestingly, in the pilot episode, the test audience thought that Dan was Gossip Girl. We actually had to re-edit one of our sequences. It’s when he’s on the computer looking at Gossip Girl, the way it was edited that he was typing as the voice was coming up, and people thought that they were being told that he was Gossip Girl. So we actually had to re-edit that sequence.” Savage also discusses the future of several characters, which didn’t get much highlight in the final episode. "I always loved the idea that Blair would reach out to Jenny and have her become a part of Waldorf Designs,” she says of what happens to Dan’s sister in five years. "When Jenny is running up the stairs to Dan and Serena’s wedding, she’s using a ‘J by Waldorf’ shopping bag. So it happened.” She also dishes on Vanessa, "Vanessa’s doing something very successful in her own world. Maybe she’s directing an episode of season five of Carrie Diaries.” On Serena’s career in five years, she weighs in, "Serena is a powerful force in the New York social scene. We saw a glimpse this year of her philanthropic powers. Her ability to raise money and get behind causes, and that’s probably what she’s doing.” Nate is also succesfull professionally, but he ended up single in the last outing. Explaining this, Savage says, "I think for at least our five-year flash forward, Nate is single and focused on work. And that Dan giving him the Gossip Girl exclusive is kind of what he needed to jumpstart the Spectator. And he’s been able to focus on that. Not have any business partners or distracting girlfriends and become very focused and successful.” Some fans might be left disappointed that Rufus didn’t reunite with Lily, but he wasn’t alone at the end of the day. He met Lisa Loeb who hosted a concert where his band performed. "We didn’t want Rufus to be alone!” Savage explains their decision to feature Loeb, who made her first cameo appearance in a 2008 episode. "And he has been spending a lot of time recently with Lisa Loeb. He really enjoyed his hormone-free Thanksgiving concert that he went to. And so that just felt like a nice way to give him someone who was from his world,” Savage adds. www.aceshowbiz.com
