Duo named for World Junior cycling championship

Rwanda Cycling federation has named two cyclists who will take part in the ICU junior world road and track championships due to be held in Cape Town, South Africa from July 12-20.

According to Ferwacy executive secretary, Emmanuel Murenzi, the duo of Godfrey Gahemba and Innocent Sibomana left Kigali yesterday for South Africa to enhance their training ahead of the of the world championships.

The pair will spend a full month training at the African Cycling Centre in South Africa before taking part in event which will attract participants from across the world.

"The pair departed today (yesterday) and their early departure is meant to enhance their training and acclimatize with the South African weather before the world junior championship,” Murenzi said.

The local cycling body has commended Project Rwanda, the Sports Ministry, National Olympic Committee and International Olympic Solidarity and International Cycling Union in collaboration with the African Cycling Centre for the trip.
