ALL political parties from different countries invited to attend the 25th anniversary of Rwanda Patriotic Front, have confirmed attendance, the event’s organising committee has confirmed.Arthur Asiimwe, the spokesperson for the organising committee, said that political parties like National Resistance Movement (NRM), the ruling party in Uganda, and the Communist party of China (CPC), were among those invited. He added that other ruling parties that had confirmed attendance include those from Burundi, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Mozambique, Eritrea, and South Africa."All of them have confirmed attendance and we are nearly done with all the preparations,” he said. The ruling RPF-Inkotanyi was established in 1987 and came to power after defeating the genocidal regime in 1994, consequently stopping the Genocide against the Tutsi, which had already claimed a million lives. It is credited for the globally-awed transformation politically, economically and socially, where in the record 18 years after the country was picked from rubble, it has emerged as a model in different aspects.Various activities were organised within the country as well as different cities across the world to mark the jubilee. The party has succeeded in implementing an all-inclusive doctrine and has largely been shaped by a struggle of fostering the unity of Rwandans, restoring democratic values and putting the country on a path to socio-economic transformation.During a recent news briefing, the RPF Vice Chairman, Christophe Bazivamo, emphasised that beyond the festivities, there should also be time for reflection."We have come a long way and have achieved a lot. But as we celebrate, we are aware of the fact that all Rwandans have a right to prosperity and that is why we have put in place several initiatives to uplift our people from poverty,” Bazivamo said. Some of the activities that preceded the main event, due tomorrow, at the Amahoro National Stadium included a concert this past weekend.Others included the laying of the foundation stones for the construction of the Liberation Museum in Gicumbi District on Monday, and the party’s headquarters in Rusororo yesterday. There was also a Prosperity Expo which concluded at the Gikondo Expo Grounds yesterday.
