Local top athletes will take part in the revived 20km de Kigali event scheduled for Sunday, according to Rwanda athletics federation secretary general Johnson Rukundo.The 20km de Kigali which was last held four years ago returns as build-up to next year’s Kigali Marathon and other IAAF sanctioned competitions due in February and March."This competition is open to all Rwandan runners and foreigners living in Rwanda. We want our runners to be in good competitive form ahead of next year’s engagements but also give a chance to Rwandans to do sports,” added Rukundo.Some of the elite athletes set to spice up the event include; Robert Kajuga, Claudette Mukasakindi, Posien Ntawuyirushintege, Fredrick Bahakurama and Jean Pierre Mvuyekure.The competition, which will attract participants in senior categories and children categories, will start at Amahoro, through Chez Lando-Kacyiru-Kinamba-Kanogo-Rwandex-Sonatube-Press House-Chez Lando and back to Amahoro stadium.The federation will award the ten best runners in both men and women categories. A total of between Rwf3m to 4 million worth of cash prizes is at skate.
