UK-based charity Teach A Man to Fish has organized a competition dubbed the Pan African awards for Entrepreneurship in Education 2012.According to a statement from the project, the competition is open to organisations working in Africa at all levels of education from primary to non-formal education. To enter the competition the organization should meet three criteria;"The organization must be entrepreneurial and be developing innovative, replicable and scalable approaches tackling entrenched problems in education; empowering future generations of entrepreneurs,” reads the statement. It adds that the project must be financially, socially and environmentally sustainable, looking beyond donations and subsidies as the primary means of creating positive social and environmental outcomes, and must also create an impact, achieving measurable results in terms of educational achievement and economic outcomes for participants and their communities. The submitted applications will be judged for entrepreneurship, sustainability and impact by a panel comprised of international business and development experts. The judging panel will then select and award a first prize of $10,000 to the organizations that best fits these criteria. In 2011, 350 organizations from over 27 countries across the continent applied for the awards which reward pioneering educational organizations that are having a positive impact on local communities within Africa. The dead line for this year’s submission is on December 20. After the submission a team of International judges will judge applications according to the above three criteria. The award was launched in 2008 and the competition is generously supported by Educating Africa. The application is free and those who are willing should visit the website www.teachamantofish.org.uk/pan-african-awards http://www.teachamantofish.org.uk/competition   and complete the simple online application form.
