The upcoming Silver Jubilee celebrations for the ruling Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) is an opportunity to reflect on the country’s achievements and recommit to continued socio-economic transformation, the party has said.

The upcoming Silver Jubilee celebrations for the ruling Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) is an opportunity to reflect on the country’s achievements and recommit to continued socio-economic transformation, the party has said. The celebrations will be a chance for party members and Rwandans from all walks of life to reflect on the country’s achievements under the leadership of RPF-Inkotanyi as well as take stock of the challenges ahead and collectively strive for Rwanda’s continued socio-economic transformation. "The celebrations will be a chance for party members and Rwandans from all walks of life to reflect on the country’s achievements under the leadership of RPF-Inkotanyi as well as take stock of the challenges ahead and collectively strive for Rwanda’s continued socio-economic transformation,” it said in a statement released yesterday. The celebrations, due December 20, is a culmination of a series of activities involving party members at the community level, which included showcasing RPF’s journey and how Rwanda’s past has been an anchor for the strategic and innovative solutions developed to overcome today’s challenges, the statement added.In the build-up to the main event, RPF members built houses for vulnerable families, participated in different sporting competitions, organised an exhibition for the business community and an international musical concert.The main celebrations, to be held at Amahoro stadium, will be attended by thousands of party members, high-level dignitaries and friends of Rwanda, according to organisers. This week several activities are lined up in line with the celebrations, including the laying of a foundation stone at the Liberation Museum in Gicumbi District yesterday. RPF Chairman, President Paul Kagame, was the chief guest at the event.Today, the party is expected to lay a foundation stone at its proposed headquarters in Rusororo, Gasabo District.On Wednesday, an international conference on Liberation Struggles will take place in Kigali, followed by the Silver Jubilee celebrations proper on Thursday.
