National volleyball team coach Paul Bitok has summoned sixteen players to the national U-17 team to represent Rwanda in the forthcoming CAVB zone V qualifiers slated for January in Kigali. In an interview yesterday, from Huye, Bitok said he selected the team from the many players who have been in residential training at Groupe Scolaire de Butare.Four more players are expected to be dropped from the selected team. "We are coming to Kigali tomorrow on to start Gymnasium training and play some build-up games against the U-17 boys’ team, APR and Rwanda Revenue Authority”Bitok was upbeat on the forthcoming tournament saying, the team is eyeing to qualify for the Africa Youth Championship due in Egypt in March. "The girls are doing well and I hope they will do well in the competition; we are hungry to win, we need to have a strong team capable of exploiting home advantage.” Rwanda will host both the boys’ and girls’ zonal championships. U-17 girls squad; Demitrie Muhimpundu, Nassla Uwamahoro, Deborah Impanoyimana, Oliver Mutamba, Delphine Uwicyeza, Leah Uwimbabazi, Pascaline Mukashyaka, Belyse Irakoze, Laurette Higiro, Esther Uwamahoro, Seraphine Mukantabara, Marie Grace Niyigena, Hortance Zaninka, Valentine Mushingwamana, Denyse Mukamana and Alice.
