Rwandans in US celebrate 25 years of RPF

Rwandans living in the United States on Saturday joined members of the Rwandese Patriotic Front (RPF) in celebrating the party’s Silver Jubilee.

Rwandans living in the United States on Saturday joined members of the Rwandese Patriotic Front (RPF) in celebrating the party’s Silver Jubilee. The celebrations held in Washington DC were marked by jubilations, songs, poems and dances.In his remarks, the Rwandan Ambassador to the US James Kimonyo highlighted the RPF achievements since its creation. "Under the Leadership of the Chairman of the RPF, His Excellency President Paul Kagame, it has tremendously recorded unparalleled progress in uplifting living standards of the people of Rwanda,” he said.He emphasised that the RPF has succeeded in forging unity, establishing peace and security, fighting corruption and fighting genocide ideology.It has also built a very strong foundation for democratic dispensation, economic development, social progress, and regional reintegration, he outlined. He called upon the youth to be inspired by what the founding fathers of this party did and uphold the values enshrined in the constitution of the RPF.Other achievements highlighted are stopping the genocide, establishing an all-inclusive government as well as returning and resettling refugees. The RPF also restored the values of patriotism, dignity, selflessness, honesty, and integrity, he added. The national celebrations are scheduled for Thursday this week in Kigali.
