Rwanda international Emmanuel Imanishimwe won his first Moroccan Botola League title with AS FAR Rabat after Friday night’s hard-fought 3-2 victory over Ittihad Tanger in the last league game saw them finish the 2022/23 season at the summit of the table.

The game at the Ibn Battuta Stadium saw Imanishimwe playing full throttle as he put up another decent display.

Reda Slimane gave FAR Rabat the lead through a penalty in the eighth minute before the home side equalized with a penalty in the 14th minute.

After recess, Ahmed Hamoudan shot FAR Rabat back ahead in the 48th minute but Mohsine Moutoiali once again restored parity for the Tanger-base side in the 75th minute.

With the game heading to a draw, FAR Rabat had a penalty in the 92nd minute following an infringement inside the vital area and Reda Slimane stepped up to bury it with ease in the 92nd minute to make it 3-2 and send traveling supporters into frenzy.

The victory saw FAR Rabat end their 15-year title jinx, amassing 67 points, just one point clear of Wydad Casablanca who finished in the second place.

Imanishimwe will now be looking to help the team extend their domestic fortunes to the continental scene as the club prepares to represent Morocco at the 2023/24 CAF Champions League.

The former Rayon Sports and APR defender wa sa regular figure in AS FAR’s title winning campaign where he played 24 league games this season and provided three assists.
