Rwanda volleyball head coach and this year’s SOYA community award winner Paul Bitok has launched a Sports Academy at Simat Village in Uasin Gishu in his native county, Kenya.The Paul Bitok Sports Academy, which was launched last week, is meant to tap into the young talents in volleyball and athletics and nurture them. Bitok also plans to promote young players in Rwanda .Primary, secondary and college students will benefit from the academy, which is situated at Simat Primary.Bitok, the current Rwandan national volleyball team tactician, said he was motivated by the fact that he grew up in the village and there was need to reward them by establishing a sports academy there.He added that the objective is to empower the community through sports and development the future."After training these students we will be looking for scholarships for them in local and international schools, it is not only in Kenya even in Rwanda where I have been working and enjoying with my players,” Bitok said.
