Several local musicians have teamed up and released a single in memory the late Henry Hirwa, their colleague who died after drowning in Lake Muhazi about two weeks ago. The new single, titled Hirwa, features Miss Jojo, Knowless, Riderman, Main Martin, Rafiki, King James and Patrick Nyamitari among others.According to these musicians, they decided to record the song because "Hirwa was such a courageous and cooperative musician.” Hirwa was recorded and produced from the Nyamirambo-based Ibisumize Music Studio. The video clip that accompanied the song is also ready, and should be coming to the TV station near you pretty soon. "The message in this song is that Hirwa was not only friends with fellow musicians, friends and relatives, but also the community in which he lived,” says Mani Martin. Martin says that although Hirwa is gone, there is quite a lot he left behind from which musicians and Rwanda’s youth in general can draw lessons. He advices the youth to live a life that will make others remember them for the good reasons, citing the role Hirwa played in uniting local musicians.
