YOUNG, talented and bursting with life is what can be said about the participants at the second annual Rwanda Dance Festival on December 12. Although all groups ‘brought it’, one crew, the Phantomz Crew, blew things wide open! The group, made up of seven young talented boys, staged a great performance that left the crowd yearning for more. This group is based in Nyamirambo, one of Kigali`s most outstanding suburbs.The Spartanz Dance Crew did not disappoint either, with yellow custom-made T-shirts.This year`s festival took place at Sports View Hotel in Remera, Gasabo district; attracting over twenty dance groups. The groups included Spartanz, Tee Lion, Jaba Junior, Hunters, Young Master and Khizz, among others. "Team work and the intensive training we went through is what perks up our dancing technique; this has actually made us what we are today,” said Alex, one of the members of the Jaba Junior Crew.This group was smartly dressed in army green shorts and black T-shirts. Their dancing technique had an individuality that other dance groups didn’t have.The show started at 6:30pm, with Tygue, a renowned rapper, Stizo and Master Case as curtain raisers."We believe this is one of the channels through which we can effectively contribute towards promoting young talent because we give them a chance to do what they do best,” said Isaac Gasangwa, one of the key organisers.He also pointed out that there are many young talented people out there who have no way of showcasing their skills. Gasangwa explained that bringing musicians and dancers together is a way to help them learn from each other. Entrance fee was Rwf2000 and Rwf3000 for VIP. "Yes, I paid my money but based on what I witnessed, I am really happy I did. I enjoyed myself and it was well worth the pay,” said one of the people who turned up for the festival.
