Police FC head coach Goran Kopunovic is eager to help the Rwandan outfit reach the second round of next year’s CAF Confederation Cup.The Cops have been drawn against Lydia Ludic Burundi Academic in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup to be played on the weekend of February 15, 2013.Police, who will be making their maiden debut in the continental championship, will play the first leg match away in Burundi on February 15 and the return leg in Kigali two weeks later.Police will be competing for the first time in the continental competition after finishing second in the national football league last season.Should they qualify, Police will face a daunting task against DRC’s DCMP.Lydia Ludic, who finished second last season in Burundi’s league, won the President’s Cup this year to earn spot to compete in the continental competition.Police FC coach Kopunovic says, "We will not go into the competition as tourists. I give full respect to Burundian clubs and their football.”"I am happy with my team which has gained experience of recent. We will work harder until next year such that we can have a solid squad which can be able to contend and qualify for the next round.”"My target is to reach the second round of the competition and I am optimistic we will do our best to reach our ambition,” he said.The Serbian added that he will only talk about his team’s opponents once he has studied them and understands their style of play. Police currently leads the league standings with 18 points with a superior goal difference over rivals SC Kiyovu, who slipped to second place.The first round will have African giants; Asec Mimosas (Ivory Coast), CS Sfaxien (Tunisia), Heartland (Nigeria), USM Alger (Algeria), Wydad Casablanca (Morocco) and Etoile Sahel (Tunisia).
