Rwanda to field young riders in Tropical tour

RWANDA Cycling Federation will use only young riders in the La Tropicale Amissa Bongo race scheduled for January 14-20, 2013.The federation’s Chairman Aimable Bayingana said that next year’s national team which will compete in La Tropicale Amissa Bongo tour will be comprised of only young riders.

RWANDA Cycling Federation will use only young riders in the La Tropicale Amissa Bongo race scheduled for January 14-20, 2013.The federation’s Chairman Aimable Bayingana said that next year’s national team which will compete in La Tropicale Amissa Bongo tour will be comprised of only young riders."We need to field young riders in big competition so that in the future they can compete at the high level and I hope if they start with the big competition, they will gain experience which is vital for the future,” Bayingana said.Nathan Byukusenge is the only senior rider who will compete in the race with a purpose of guiding and giving his teammates confidence in the competition.Some of the young riders who will compete in the competition include 18-year old pair of Valens Ndayisenga and Hassan Rukundo.La Tropicale Amissa Bongo 2013 will bring together 15 teams from nine African countries.Countries expected to send their teams include; Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Kenya, Morocco and Rwanda.This year, Team Rwanda finished seventh in 15 teams and grabbed third overall position in Africa, behind winners Eritrea and Morocco.Rwanda was represented by Abraham Ruhumuriza, Emmanuel Rudahunga, Nicodem Habiyambere, Nathan Byukusenge, Janvier Hadi and Joseph Biziyaremye.
