Rudisha voted Kenya’s 2012 Soya Awards winner

OLYMPIC Champion David Rudisha star continued to shine even brighter after he was voted the 2012 Sportsman of the year title during the colourful Sports Personality of the Year Awards (SOYA) ceremony held on Thursday night at the Nairobi’s posh Carnivore Restaurant.

OLYMPIC Champion David Rudisha star continued to shine even brighter after he was voted the 2012 Sportsman of the year title during the colourful Sports Personality of the Year Awards (SOYA) ceremony held on Thursday night at the Nairobi’s posh Carnivore Restaurant. Steeplechase Champion Ezekiel Kemboi  finished runners-up trouncing footballer Scotland based Victor Wanyama  of Celtic FC to the Sportsman of the Year title . His father Noah Wanyama collecting the award on his behalf.This was in a day that saw Tusker FC get named the team of the year.Tusker Premier League Champions Tusker FC was named the team of the year in the  2012 edition of the Sports Person of the Year Awards.Gor Mahia came in at second place while Harlequins rugby team was third.This was the second award for Tusker this year, after being named the Team of the Year in the Footballer of the Year Awards.Tusker’s head Coach Robert Matano and Team Manager Willis Waliaula were at hand to receive the award for Tusker.Other nominees of the night included the Kenya Under 20 women’s team  that was named the women’s team of the year in the 2012 edition of the Sports Personality of the Year Awards held on Thursday 6 December.The Starlets, as the team is popularly known, beat the Kenyan Sevens rugby team and the prisons womens team to take the award.They had earlier in the year come to a close as two matches to the FIFA U20 women’s World Cup, only falling to Tunisia.
