POLICE FC have moved ahead of SC Kiyovu to the summit of the league table on goal difference. SC Kiyovu failed to consolidate their grip on the top spot after their 2-0 loss to defending champions APR while Police humbled lightweights Muhanga with the same margin. Police enjoy a six goal cushion. Police coach Goran Kopunovic hailed his team for the win, and said they are motivated to continue their fight for the national championship.  "The win was very important for us and we are now looking to continuing with the good results in the league, it will give my players motivation but it’s also time to work hard.” Kiyovu’s loss pegged them back into second place and, after the match, coach Jean Baptiste Kayiranga said losing is part of the game. "We did our best but APR was good, we still have many matches to play, all we need is to continue working hard and record more wins, ” the former Rayon Sport player and coach said.APR secured the win after former Kiyovu players; Jean Claude Iranzi and Tumaine ‘Titi’ Ntamuhanga scored the goals.But APR’s win was overshadowed by the sending off of their coach Eric Nshimiyimana for arguing with the assistant referee.Speaking to Time Sport, Nshimiyimana said that they needed the win to close the gap on the top teams. "This is good for us because we were far from the top teams but for now we have closed the gap and I hope with one game in hand we have an advantage.” The win moved the champions to fourth position with 16 points, two behind Police FC and Kiyovu, with a game in hand.
