Forward Muhadjiri Hakizimana is optimistic to help Police FC win a major silverware next season.
Hakizimana committed his future to the law enforcers after signing a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until June 2024.
Police have not won a major trophy since 2015 and the Rubavu-born player has promised to end the club’s jinx in the coming season.
"When I look at my club and my career, we share the same ambitions: to win silverware. As a player, my goal is to win trophies with this team," he said.
Hakizimana made a sensational return to Police in January on a six-month deal after he failed to agree on a new deal with Saudi side Al Kholood FC.
He helped the club finish fifth in the 2022/23 league campaign and his performance saw him rewarded with a new one-year deal after his short-term spell expired in June.
The Rwanda international’s extension will certainly give head coach Vincent Mashami attacking options as he looks to compete for the league title and Peace Cup next season.
"I am happy and excited to sign a new deal with the club and I want to be part of this team. I hope to continue working hard for the team. My ambition is to keep Police FC going strong and winning titles," he said.
Hakizimana previously played for Etincelles, SC Kiyovu, Mukura, AS Kigali and APR FC.
The law and order enforcers are seeking their first league title since its formation in 2004, and the second since the 2015 Peace Cup glory under Andre Casa Mbungo.
The club has reportedly made key signings during the current transfer window in an attempt to challenge for the next season’s league title with Mashami determined to make history at the club by becoming the first coach to lead them to their maiden league title.
Bienvenue Mugenzi (Kiyovu Sports), Samuel Ndizeye (Rayon Sports), Fiacre Ntwari (AS Kigali) and Moses Nyamurangwa (Sunrise FC) are among top players who are said to have completed their moves to Police.
