A school poster drawing competition on land dispute resolution recently came to an end and the organizers say the winner will be announced later this month.

The competition organised by Rwanda Initiative for Sustainable Development (RISD), has been running in several primary and secondary schools since last February.

"One of the recently concluded Public Information Awareness (PIA) activity is the students’ poster drawing competition, held in Gatsata Primary School in Gasabo District, Rwaza 1 Primary School and APEDI Rwaza

Secondary School both in Musanze District.  Participating students were selected from primary 5 and 6 as well as from secondary schools in form 2 and 3.

The contest started on May 5 and concluded on May 29, 2008,” RISD said in a communiqué.
Preliminary selection was done by art teachers in the schools where 20 best posters were selected from each of the pilot areas.

The final selection where the best three drawings were selected was done by a committee of seven panelists on June 04th, 2008.

The final selection committee consisted of both Executive Secretaries of Gatsata and Rwaza Sectors, representative from USAID, National Land Centre, ARD, RISD and a local professional artist.

The winner and two runners-up will be awarded prizes on June 24 during a "Lessons Learnt Forum” at Hotel Novotel in Kigali.
