Book: Mama Can’t Hurt MeAuthor: Mbugua NdikiReviewed by: Martin BishopAvailable at: Rwanda National Library Genre: FictionMAMA Can’t Hurt Me is a story of a girl, Wairimu, born and brought up in a Christian family that advocates for total adherence to the Holy book of God.

She gets bored by village life and constantly gets her way into Nairobi where she visits her boyfriend, Ali, even after sturn warnings she receives from her secret admirer, Samuel. Her world breaks loose when her mother discovers that she is actually pregnant and hence she is evicted and having no place to go, decides to look for Ali who is not ready to take the burden of a silly rural girl.

She ends up being helped by a strange woman who takes her to her place, where Wairimu faces a lot of problems and at last she is salvaged by Samuel. Wairimu’s dream of a flickering city goes in tumbles.
