This year’s Anti -Corruption cycling competition sponsored by the Ombudsman Office in conjunction with the Rwanda Cycling Federation is set for today.The one-day competition, which is aimed at fighting corruption, will cost an estimated Rwf5.5 million courtesy of the Office of the Ombudsman.The riders will start at Amahoro Stadium to Muhanga and back, finishing at Stade de Kigali in Nyamiramo.The competition is expected to attract up to 50 riders across the country in both the men and women categories, and the riders will cover a total of 90km (men), while the women will cover 45km.Local clubs expected to take part in the race include; Benediction Club, Rapide, Satellite, Les Amis Sportifs, Fly Club, Cycling Club for All, Kiramuruzi Cycling team, Cine Elmay and Abahizi.Each team will have six riders but one club can enter two teams. It will be the last tournament of the year and it comes just a fortnight after the conclusion of the UCI rated Tour du Rwanda.Gasore Hategeka showed incredible power and determination to win the Anti-corruption cycling tour last year.The 24-year-old rider, who rides for Benediction cycling club, used 3 hours, 12 minutes and 45 seconds. In the ladies’ fray, Angelique Munkandezi was the winner of the tournament.
